We care about your privacy

LifeFolder cares about your privacy and protecting your personal data is very important to us. This privacy policy applies to our website (http://life-folder.com), mobile apps and services, including those which may be delivered via web apps or third party services such as Facebook Messenger.

To make this document more readable, “us,” “our,” and “we” refer to LifeFolder, Inc. “You” and “your” refer to anybody using our website, mobile apps or services.

LifeFolder is a service to help you plan for end of life. To do that, we need to collect your personal information. By using our service, you consent to us collecting and storing your data as described in this Privacy Policy and in the Terms of Service (http://l-f.io/tos). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services. Our Terms of Use (Terms) also cover your use of our website, mobile apps and services, so please make sure you read our Terms carefully.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top, so be sure to check back periodically to stay aware of any modifications. Your continued use of our services after changes have been posted will constitute your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any changes.

What we collect

We collect some data that is specific to you. This includes:

  • Basic contact information. This includes your name, address, email address, phone number and other data.
  • Information that is relevant to the services we provide. This includes your age, gender, religion, your end of life wishes and other data.

We may automatically collect information about how you use our website, mobile apps and other services. We may use cookies or other similar technologies to help use and compile statistics. This information may include log file information such as IP addresses, browser type, browser language, pages viewed and the date and time of a visit. This information helps us improve the functionality of our services.

We do not respond to web browser “do not track” signals.

We also may allow third parties, like ad networks and servers, to serve customized ads to you on our website or mobile apps or on third-party websites. These third parties may use their own cookies and other tracking technologies on the browser that you use to access our website, mobile app and services. We do not have access to information collected by these third parties, nor does this privacy policy govern the use of third party cookies or similar technology. If you do not wish to receive these tailored advertisements, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s website, the Digital Advertising Alliance’s website and Google’s Ads Preference Manager to learn more information about tailored browser advertising and how you can control cookies or opt out from such services.

Third Party Services

To deliver our services, we may use third party services. For example, if you use Facebook Messenger to talk to one of our chat-bots, your data will also be collected by Facebook and subject to Facebook’s privacy policies. Please know that we are not responsible for third parties’ use of your data, and we recommend that, before providing us information via third parties, you review third parties’ privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the privacy policies of our partners, so please read them carefully. If anything about those services worries you, or if you disagree with anything in their privacy policy, please do not use our services.

Our website and services may contain links to other websites provided by third parties, such as social plug-ins for Facebook and other social media. Please be aware that we do not control these third party websites or any of the content contained on those websites. Once you click on social-media buttons or click on links that take you other websites, we cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of such other websites. We encourage you to exercise caution and to read the privacy policy for the websites you visit. The inclusion of hyperlinks to third party websites on our website and services in no way constitutes an endorsement by us of such websites’ content, actions or policies.

How we use your data

We collect and use your personal information to operate our website, mobile apps and services and to deliver the services you have requested. For example, we use your information to generate a discussion document to discuss end-of-life decisions with your family members and others close to you. We also provide certain state forms for you to complete to reflect your end-of-life decisions. In addition, we may use your personal data to make you aware of services that are relevant to your interests. We may also contact you from time to time to get feedback on our services, or to let you know about new services we are offering.

We also may use your information to offer you and deliver advertisements relating to third-party products and services that may be of interest to you. Such advertisements may be delivered on our site or on other websites and services. When we do so, we will not share your personally identifiable information with third parties for the third party’s own advertising purposes without your consent.

Sharing your information

We may share your personal information with our third party service providers and joint business partners as required to provide you the services you request and respond to your enquiries.

We may also share non-personal, anonymous and/or aggregate information with third parties for commercial or research purposes. We will obtain your consent before sharing personally identifiable information with third parties for the third party’s own advertising purposes.

We may process your information on servers located in the United States.  To the extent that you are accessing our website, mobile app or other services from a foreign jurisdiction, you consent to the transfer of all of your information to the United States.  IF IT IS UNLAWFUL TO USE OUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES IN YOUR JURISDICTION OR TO TRANSFER YOUR DATA TO THE UNITED STATES, DO NOT USE OUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES.

Security

We are committed to maintaining your confidence and trust, and take steps to help protect the personal information you provide to us. However, no transmission or electronic storage of information is guaranteed to be secure. We therefore urge you to always use caution when transmitting information over the Internet.
